Playing an instrument until your hands don't work properly anymore

What's not good about that? I think playing an instrument is very important in anyones life, and practice makes perfect, right?
As was famously said 'I've got blisters on me fingers!'

Seeing snails on the way to school.

Proof that there still are life forms in the ground in this concret world. they just don't come out until it rains! Wave your antena proudly little snails! Eye-stocks..?

Idealism

It feels so much lighter on the idealist side of things. I'm definiatly an idealist, and I know a bunch of my friends arn't really at all, which is cool. We all have different perspectives on how things should be done, and how problems should be solved. This usually results in some interesting designs, but that's all good too. I generally look at things with a 'how am I going to go this?' in general, sort of attitute. Blindly trying things until something works, not unlike a four year old working on a puzzle.
Or I'll only have massive goals in mind with almost nothing planned out in the middle, which seems to get some people worried about me and how I'm going to manage to keep myself alive and fed. It's alright though, because I'll manage! Just by looking at the bright side, I'll manage. no worries.

I'm made of sunshine! (or at least try to be most of the time)

Liking the 'idea' of something

What's not to like about that? A girl in one of my classes yesterday said that she loved Seattle, but she'd never been there. So I said 'you like the idea of Seattle, then?'
yup.
awesome.

May 24th.

Having a fire alarm go off in the wee hours of the morning.

So that probably doesn't sound like a good thing to anyone at all. But let me explain myself for a moment here! First of all, most of the time when a fire alarm goes off, it's a false alarm. This is just a huge relef to anyoner who was yanked from sleep and sent stumbling, bleary-eyed, down 5 flights of stairs out into an unfamiliar city to sit on the pavement. As long as you know that the hotel isn't actually burning, you'll be fine.
Secondly, did you know before that bell started ringing, that it was actually getting light out at 5am!? I certianly didn't. but was happy to discover it. Sitting around in the dark, outside is far more uncomforable.
And lastly, it makes an interesting story, and certainly makes you appreciate the fact that no, your building isn't in ruins. (but perhaps next time we'll wait for than 10 feet from it. Across the road, perhaps? thanks)
As long as it doesn't happen a second time, we're all good.

Camping-kitchen equipment

So you have just walked into a MEC, or an REI Co-op with a solid plan. 'I'm just going to buy rainpants' you might be thinking, or 'just a new waterbottle, and an airmattress' .
It will never, ever work out like that.
Ever.
Oh hey, what's that over there? Cooking equipment?! No way! (I should go look at those. )
Rows upon rows of gadgets are splayed out across the store before you. The latest light weight stoves that can boil a litre of water in under a minute and can cook pasta atop any mountain. Folding forks, spoons, knives. Sporks? (I might need one of those. Oh, it's titanium? even better! And it costs 12$ ? ...That seems alright)
Suddenly your basket is chalked full of little kitchen helpers that will make your camping experience even better. A pocket sized contraption to fit on the end of a stick...no need carry a hot-dog stick now! A 3-spice carrier; it's shock-proof, waterproof, and airtight, so if there is ever a hurrican you know your paprika will be safe! A stainless steel pot with a folding handle? (what, it was on sale!)
Then before you know it the till is ringing up a change of 200$ and you sign and reach into your wallet, trying to justify all of it.

But you'll use it all in the end..right?
I don't know if it's just me who does that...but...I do love my kitchen gadgets.

May 22nd

Getting the rare dorm-room you want for university
Here's how I see that situation; you're going away to a scary new place, with people you've probably never seen before away from your familiar friends and family. You'll be working super hard all the time, and need to feel at home. Suddenly you have a chance to get a fancy hotel-like room all to yourself for your first year? Heck yes! Go for it! 275 sq/ft with a private bathroom? Even better.
And when you find out that you actually got said room the day before you go on vacation with your family? Awesome!

Seeing an octopus
YES.

May 21st.

Even though this has been done many times, I thought I'd like ot keep a record of things that make me happy. Who knows when a sad day might roll around? I'd certainly need it then.

May 21st:

Realizing there is still some chocolate left in the wrapper.
How fantastic is that? Chocolate is a staple in my every-day food..stuffs, and finding out I had extras kicking around was a high point to my morning. Especially while I was eating in in a dull class, and remembering how I was eating the rest of that same chocolate bar a few days earlier on a trip with piles of people I love.

Finally figuring out how to work a webcam AND getting the microphone to actually pick up sound
This was because of my friend Kelsey, actually...thanks! It's been awesome to talk to/ 'see' people I've not seen in..well some of them over a year. So nice to see their happy faces again

Making pancakes
Pancakes are good, especially when you're eating them in the company of awesome people.
